--- title: Agent-Oriented / Agent-Centric Process Mining type: method tags: [process-mining, agents, legacy-migration, apm] sources: ["[[sources/2026-calvanese-agentic-bpm-manifesto]]"] created: 2026-04-13 updated: 2026-04-13 --- # Agent-Oriented Process Mining An emerging research direction (refs [12][13][14] in APM Manifesto): mining event logs to discover **agent systems**, not merely control-flow models. Includes: - **Agent Miner** (Tour, Polyvyanyy, Kalenkova, Senderovich 2023, ref [12]) — algorithm for discovering agent systems from event data. - **Agent system mining** — vision, benefits, and challenges (Tour, Polyvyanyy, Kalenkova 2021, ref [13]). - **Agentic process observability** — discovering behavioural variability (Fournier, Limonad, David 2025, ref [14]). ## Role in APM Cited as part of cross-cutting challenge **C1: Toward Automated Provisioning and Onboarding of Legacy BPM into APM** ([[sources/2026-calvanese-agentic-bpm-manifesto]], §4.5). The transition from static BPM/workflow systems to APM demands **agent-centric process mining**: reinterpretation of workflows into agent-oriented roles, goals, policies, and behaviours, while preserving institutional knowledge and auditability. ## Related [[concepts/agentic-bpm]] · [[concepts/self-modification]] · [[entities/artem-polyvyanyy]]
